9.21.2011 :: The Canadian Side

Early this evening, a howl of greeting is heard echoing around the Near Umbra. The call comes in clusters of three, and is repeated three times every hour until it is responded to.

*Sewer pipe gathers all the other garou he can find (allowing others to join in!) And replies away from any possible caern sites.*

After howls have exchanged, a man approaches Pipe (and whoever is with him). He is a thin, gaunt man. The skin of his face is dark and wind chiseled. He speaks English with a thick North African accent. He speaks in short, clipped sentences.

" My name is Kaphiri Adom. I am a Silent Strider. I have come from Toronto. I have been sent by a mutual friend. To help. "

"Hello, I'm Joshua Davis. So who is this mutual friend?"

He smiles, "Is my tribesman Ashmoore still here? I am passing through on my way across the water. I think I can be of some assistance. "

*Ashmoore shows up... holding a candybar - Butterfinger. He addresses Davis first before recognizing Adom.*

"Sorry, I had the munchies on the way...

Er, Kaphiri, fancy meeting you here."

" And you. I trust the road always rises to meet you. "

"I certainly keep my feet on the ground.

So what brings you to... here? No more dead family, I hope."

" No, nothing like that. Heading to New York on the way back home. An old friend said go south. I am here. "

He glances around, " I did not mean to be a cause for tension. Shall we adjourn to a public house? Your noble elder could use a drink. All of you, please, let us be friends. "

"Sounds like a good idea. You'll have to forgive us all, recent months have been strenuous. There have been more than a few howls coming unexpectedly and not so many have been friendly. Everyone is... on edge, waiting for the nest catastrophe."

" What better occasion for some celebration? Come, tell me all about your problems. I suspect I can be of some assistance, " he pauses, " in exchange, you pay my tab. An equitable arrangement for all. "

"Does anybody know who the richest member of the city is? We're about to be taken for all we're worth.

Adom grins and takes a swig from the jug, " Good enough. "

He passes the jug around and waits for someone to speak.

Brendan walks up, whistling a tune to himself. From the pack in his hand, he offers a beer to the newcomer, and cracks one for himself. He looks the man up and down (Garou Lore for renown?)

"You're a bit far afield for the average blow in, aren't you?" he shakes himself "Sorry, Name's O'Monaghan, how's the good man yourself doing these days?"

"Hello, Mr. O'Monaghan, it is my pleasing. I am doing quite well, it has been a long and interesting year. As I am sure you will agree. "

"So... Problems.

Let's see... we've got Spirals who want to pow-wow rather than kill us; a former caern that is locked up from the outside; another that is haunted by mother-frakkin ghosts with a 'device' - workin' on it; and a whole city of missing former veterans prior to the local exodus.

Thats the best of my recollection. Bear in mind that I take a particular fancy to things that I participate in.

"Let us focus on one at a time. Tell me more about the most important of these," he finishes the offered beer in a single hearty chug, wiping suds from his thin mustache afterward.

He shrugs helplessly, "No?"

"Yes. I don't know which is the most severe. All of them are creating gigantic pains in the ass for us.

According to some spirit mentors who are local, they have been moving in odd patterns and shaking out areas which they typically avoid. That alone is fishy enough even that spirits are taking notice; why ain't they covering thier tracks.

What's more pecliar is that one just walked up to us last week. One shows up at the place we're all gathered and tries to start a dialogue. Earlier in the evening, the sept alpha killed the preacher they were puppeting - that guy didn't know it though - and so they probaly wanted to follow up with some threats. Either way, we basically walked away from him and his calls for a chat - the setup just wasn't good for us to jump him, I guess, and who wants to deal amicably with those bastards. But that is some atypical shit right there. Any advice on how to follow that up?"

" I want to say wise words like, ' most dangerous Dancer is a polite Dancer ', but that is not true. In my experience, the most dangerous Dancers are on fire. But I think you understand. You have no Caern, you have no Elders, you might as well have sign on your head saying 'fuck me in the ass'. What I mean is, do not fall for the cunning ruse, they are not friendlies. "

He pauses,

" And build a damned Caern. Where are your Theurges? I have half a mind to give them a stern talking to. "

"Really? Our last caern got the shit kicked out of it and those guys were much better than what we've got here. These BSDs seem able to find us wherever we are. Unless we make caern-bus, Which souds like something that we don't want to do, we're just going to be found and stomped pretty fast."

" Yes. The seven thousand years it took them to destroy your Caern really is a cautionary tale for all of us. "

*hiccup*

"You kids are big damn heroes, you must remember that. I think all this hiding has been bad for you, spiritually. "

*Works for Food takes another sip from the jug while listening he then offers it back to Kaphiri*

Well We'uns has been discussin where and when to go's about build'n a new Caern! But it just aint as easy as a say'n it. Things has to a done in there proprer time an in der proper place? I understand Maxim Dmitriev –Ryha is a workin on a plan. But I believes there be obstacles in our path, certain items we need before we’all can even be a thinkin about such a ritual!

*eyes light up like fire at the phrase 'Big Damned Heroes'*

Adom smiles at Pipe,

" Good. There is some fight in you yet, " he takes a moment, seemingly looking at something behind Pipe, " Your road has not been an easy one, has it son? I wish I could tell you it will get easier. The Caryatid is broken by her load, but she never ever stops trying to lift it. That is the pride of a working man. Break but do not bend. That is your way, is it not? "

*Looks behind him, at whatever it is that the Garou was looking at, then back... and his eyes narrow slightly*

*Pipe turns around and leaves quickly*

Adom mutters, " Just like his father, " before returning his attention to a flask he has discovered in his jacket.

*shrugs and takes a sip from the jug before passing it around to anyone again*

But buildin a Caern that be really rare knowledge usually kept by true Elders. We'uns I be thinkin will be gathering our tools and finding the right place. My old Nana used ta say haste makes waste. Nana used to also say be careful cause its the second rat that be a gettin the cheese!

He shrugs, " I am just a weary traveler. There are things that I know. I know the weight of a heart and the sound of a cat falling. I know the fear of the dead and the color of the shadows. He takes a long swig, " Seta was family. His legacy is not looking very healthy right now. I want to help, but you have to be very precise with your questions. I cannot stay long, my feet carry me forward, and my mouth waxes poetic. "

Well a Weary Traveler we can find be a findin a place by the fire to rest. And everyone eats! But for questions I be a thinkin that here be not the time or place. Perhaps a meeting with the Maxim Dmitriev -ryha and Casey Richardson -ryha and the rest of the pack leaders and Auspice leaders.

They might have questions and while you wait something besides a little shine and beer might be found to soothe a weary traveler.

He regards Works for Food for a moment, the same look that so unnerved Sewer Pipe, then speaks in Wolf speech, an impressive feat from a human mouth: " I am getting tired. I have come, and I have offered myself to you three times. If you do not desire my assistance, I will speak no more of it, and simply enjoy your company on this beautiful night. "

His jaw drops open slightly, just for a moment he looks completely thrown off his guard, but a moment later he is composed again.

" Chases Cars still lives? But badly injured? Yes. I think you had better take me to him. "

Yes Chase Cars lives.... *said as he leads the Theurge away*... We pulled him from darkness and torment but despaired of saving him!

This, of course, is why Wishbone wasn't on hand to greet the new arrival: he is tending to Chases Cars when the small delegation arrives. Spirits of healing, cleansing, and fortitude swirl about the stricken Gnawer in an intricate dance; Wishbone doesn't even acknowledge the new arrivals, focused entirely on the task in front of him. Indeed, he's looking worn himself, as if he's been pouring everything he has into the job. Even so, he is doing no better than holding his ground.

Ashmoore addresses the Bone Gnawers and the Strider...

And he walks off.

(I agree, not cool, lets drag sewers out and give all the theurges a chance at helping. I don't wanna hog the first NPC garou all to ourselves, especially if he isn't permanent. Bring the scene out here.)
