Rage and Frenzy Empty Rage and Frenzy

The Garou are creature of Rage, a primal force of fervor and destruction that drives them to act with incredible strength and fight against impossible odds that would crush the wills of lesser creatures. However, this Rage, gift as it is from Luna, is also a curse.

Humans, and therefore our players and STs, can never fully understand what it’s like to feel the Rage. Even that of the freshest Ragabash with only a single Rage is unknowable to the person with the worst anger management issues. It is a consuming, living, fiery fury that wells up at any time, but it is indispensable for charging into the maws of the Wyrm and its minions to crush them in the name of Gaia.

The Rage inside of Garou is palpable, and non-Garou sense this and fear it, causing the condition known as the Curse, where mortals with less Willpower than a Garou’s current Rage will see them as a monster and a threat. Even Kinfolk can still feel that dangerous aura of Rage around each Garou, although are somewhat able to push past it, at least better than other mortals can bear it. Supernaturals such as mages, changelings, and vampires do not suffer the Curse, and cannot feel the Rage boiling within the Garou.

Rage Tests can be called for whenever a power or situation requires, as well at ST discretion in the following situations:
-Embarrassment or humiliation
-Any strong emotion (lust, rage, envy, jubilation, despair)
-Extreme hunger
-Confinement, helplessness
-Being taunted by the enemy
-Large quantities of silver in the area, or forcibly being given an item made of silver when it is undesired
-Being wounded or seeing a packmate wounded
-Any time you would be flustered or under extreme stress
As a rule of thumb, if a wild animal would feel stressed (remember that there is both distress and eustress), cornered, angered, or otherwise given to wild passions, a Rage Test will be called for, as per Laws of the Wild, revised.

If your Rage is higher than the current difficulty based off of Lunar phase (and possibly being in Crinos), your character gains a Rage Trait (up to your Permanent Rage). Regardless of outcome the player must then test for Frenzy.

Frenzy is a static test of your Permanent Willpower versus your Permanent Rage (use Temporary in either situation if it is higher than your Permanent Willpower or Rage). If you fail, you enter a Frenzy relevant to the situation: Berserk Frenzy or Fox Frenzy. Frenzy functions as per Laws of the Wild, revised. When you fail a Frenzy test, you must throw two Simple Tests. If you fail both, you are in the Thrall of the Wyrm and must immediately hand your sheet to an ST, informing them that you have fallen into the Thrall. After failing a Frenzy Test, but having avoided Thrall of the Wyrm, you may choose to immediately spend a Temporary Willpower to stop the Frenzy dead in its tracks, but doing so causes you to lose all actions you would have had for the rest of the round, although you may still defend yourself as normal. Otherwise, all mechanics for Frenzy are as per Laws of the Wild, revised.
