January Session - This Saturday's session should officially start at 'Traditional Baldy Hall LARP Time' - IE, around 6pm. Staff will be there around 4 to hand out out sheets and run any individual scenes that might need to be run.

Event game?

This Saturday's (March 17) game will be running at Baldy.

Well. Outside Baldy as much as possible. The fake ruins and the grotto inside Lockwood are always good spots when the weather is nice. I'll put up notation in Kiva as to where we're hiding if we're not inside the building.

FYI I am pretty sure charcoal grills are okay on campus, but gas grills are not.

FYI, Falling Waters is back outside this week, and will be running on the Island at Ellicott Creek Park. Starting around 2pm on Saturday and running through to Sunset. Good excuse to get some fresh air and grill some burgers. Given the craziness around the Con Event, it's going to be a pretty mellow RP catching up session, so a really good place for new players to jump on board and not have to worry about digesting a horrifying metaplot.

OK i did not think the Erie county parks were open for rentals yet.

I will be there. Shelter #30 like before?

Some one should go the the Kiva on the day and put up a note for anyone who shows up there, thinking that is the meeting location.

Ok....

I am bringing about 10 Lbs of Tube Steaks, Rolls, Charcoal, lighter fluid, some personal drinks and matches, and the Bone Gnawer BBQ Tools. On the other hand the Weather is predicting Morning Showers and a High of 48F..... *shivver* ???

Just checked the weather channel app, sat has a hi/low of 75F/40F with a 30% of showers. I am planing to bring venison chili disk. Premade so it just needs to be heated in the Dutch oven. Someone else can think about a desert item for a change.

I will pick up a large can or two of Soup at Willow Brook Resteraunt Supply and bring a big pot.... just in case we need something warm. If its in the 60F+ we wont need it and its not going to spoil.

From what I recall last summer, it was either bring stuff to share, or give Brian, like, five or ten dollars to afford the site rental.

Site Update.

So, we're not actually running on the island. Due to some good player feedback, we're going to go with Site 25. It's right by the road and easy to find, but with plenty of space to move around. Last time we ran on the island, a shocking number of folks ended up getting lost.

I think it was more because people didn't realize the park wasn't contiguous. But, while it's kinda awesome being on the island, there were SO MANY DOGS, and each one had to visit us because there's lots of people doing animated actions and there's OMGISTHEFOOD?MEATFORMEMEATFORME!!! So, yeah, someplace else may be better, and the location is central in Tonawanda/Amherst if we need to quickly run and grab something.

The island is an unofficial dog park. Had we been on it I would have thought of bring me two.

Weather report, at 2pm 48F, 30% rain. Temps will rise to 50F, chance of rain will drop down to 10% over the day. By sundown the Temp will drop to 46F


Everyone Dress in layers, Dress warm, wear a hat. I am a scout leader for over 10 years and I will tell you that the greatest change for hypothermia is between 40F and 60F , because people do not expect to get cold at those temperatures. No, you do not need long johns but blue jeans a shirt with a sweater and a coat and hat should do fine.

Be prepared, be warm and we will have a great time.

As long as you can get their I have you covered... Im bringing as stated above 10Lbs of Hot Dogs and Buns. If you can bring your own beverage you should be fine. Well unless you a vegan or vegetarian!?!

I never bring my dogs to the island and I live near by. People there don't keep their mutts leashed, and my dogs won't start a fight, but by god will they finish one. 180 lbs of bulldog will not be fucked with. I hate that i have to avoid places because of inconsiderate ass people.

At this point, I think a venue change might be missed by a lot of people. Probably better to head on out to the park as planned, and if it's too miserable, consider moving indoors from there.

I will put my roaster oven in the back seat that way we can cook the Hotdogs just like they do at the Ball Parks....

Im not wandering around a soaking wet landscape even in a drizzle. Its not worth it, I wont even go to a bills game in the Cold Wet or hunt in the rain. Besides even salt is washed away in the rain so why take the chance.

This is up to people who aren't me. The difference between LARPing in the rain, under a pavilion and LARPing in Baldy is academic to me. I'm assuming since session starts in 2 hours and we're still debating this, that we're going to the park either way.

Okay. April's out of the way. We all survived it somehow. Let's look ahead. It would require some carpooling and planning, but I would like to run the next session at Griffis Sculpture Park. Specifically the Rohr Hill Road Site, which tends to have less people and doesn't have a formal admission fee.

Distance not an issue, can we rent one of the shelters. Some of them look like quite a hike from the parking lot, and there is no fire which means no cooking of food.

No shelters at the site I want to run at, which is a downside, yes.

The plus side is it's absurdly beautiful and we can hang out in the forest for once.

If i have to be oustide in possibly shitty weather at what is 2 in the morning for me, there had best be a grill.

My only concern is that we're putting all our eggs in one basket. It's a kickass site, and the odds of good weather are in our favor in May...but it's not a guarantee. If we get crappy weather, we've got no shelter and a long trip to any alternative site.

If we're still up for the drive, and I'm not entirely against it, I'm for Chestnut Ridge again! ^^
