totem rules

i am not really sure how totems are built up, i get more xp means a better totem but what exactly can you buy? and how many points are these different things?

XP to buy Totem on your character. You pack totals its Totem points, every one should contribute at lest one. You use this to buy your totem. Any excess Totem points can be per the rules in the Laws of the Night, in the Umbra chapter.

i was looking for more details that section in lotw isnt very comprehensive

The rules for totems are found in LotWild page 90 and pages 242 thru 249. Pages 90 and 249 both contain charts of totem ability costs. The two lists conflict slightly, but each has items the other lacks/provides more in-depth explanations.

Oh, I do. I haven't seen all of the updated rulebooks they're releasing, but I'm looking forward to at least their removing self-conflicting rules.

Question can you buy your own personal totem during charater creation?

The game isn't currently allowing Personal Totem. I strongly desire Personal Totem as a game resource, but we don't have permission for it yet.

Also, Kinfolk cannot have totems.
