A text before the Turtle

"I'm nearby. You the kind of guy that needs to have an appointment made so I can visit?"

Absolutely my schedule is clear as of now elder want me to head over the caren or if ya like you can come on over.

A faint rapping would sound on the door to the office area.

"I didn't want to go barging in." he'd say through the door, pocketing his phone and grinning.

Firewall is there at the door waiting come in welcome( when he says welcome he shows a bit of throat to one of higher rank and respect) let me give you the tour (see prior post)

Jake would pat the man on the shoulder at the display of throat. "Oh, none of that... I'm just a visitor here in your Alpha's territory and upon your hospitality. Don't think so much on it." he'd say and go on the tour quite gladly. He'd push his hands into his pockets and take in the sights, privately amused at the building's resemblance to a turtle.

As they walked, he hooked a thumb over his shoulder. "Sounds like things are afoot over there across the street... Someone missing, was there? I came because I had a curious thought after what we talked about the other night. Whenever we get into a private place, I hope you'll let me speak my mind?"

Well come up to the office (as they walk by the other offices you'll notice pack mates of mine you met at the market working on various things. Firewall will open the door for the elder once both are inside he'll close the door. the office has the look of the twenties bookshelf's line the walls and a 10' by 10' terrarium is behind the desk filled with jungle plants and a colony of pink toed tarantulas) Grab a seat, anything to drink, whats on your mind.

As they walked, he'd lift a hand to greet those packmates that he'd met before. Once they were ensconced within Firewall's office, he'd press the door closed and then pad around to look over the enclosures that held the plants and tarantulas.

"Root beer would be fantastic... And now that we're here, tell me about your pack again. Wetworks, you said. How often is your pack called to... work?"

Well im no galliard but my packs done its fare share of work well we spent 2 years in the amazon fighting and dieing then we ended up here since weve been here weve gotten into a few scraps/jobs

The Ragabash came around and took up a chair, turning it about so that he was sitting in it backwards.

"How many people has your pack murdered on orders?" he asked a bit more bluntly.

Not to be boastfull but since we got here to niagra falls we haven't lost a fight. We fight as a well oiled machine and we are not above getting our hands dirty.

we haven't murdered anyone we take orders we get jobs done and sometimes that little girl isn't a little girl its a monster and needs to be put down. Some folks don't have the stomach for it we do it so they don't have to.

"It's a sad world where that's the truth..." he agreed, folding a leg under his backside and settling into that seat. "When you do the jobs that no one else has the stomach for, does it ever feel like you're trading in little shreds of your soul? Of your dignity?" he asked. It didn't seem that he was being accusatory or even unhappy. The Elder was honestly wondering after the answers.

As for how we handle the blood that drips from our claws , or the images that are imbedded with us ... each one of us handles that differently (sounding almost depressed) me I pray. as for going after friends or people we once. That's not so complicated the person or friend that's a monster now died long ago im just putting the body down its only right and its mercy .

hmm ponders the question for a moment .. No I don't for every time one of the monsters dies I know im my heart and in my soul I've saved a human from being tormented or corrupted by them I know that somehow I've made there life better.

"I'd like to tell you something, so that you know it for the future. Something that you don't need to share with your pack. But for every firing squad that your pack becomes? You'll always know that your gun didn't have that blank in the chamber." he said and leaned forward a little.

"In almost every case? They can be saved. It takes time, and energy, and it takes love. The worst Black Spiral Dancer, the most brokenhearted spirit... They can be brought home again. I'm like you, my friend. I pray to anything that will listen to me, to give me courage to reach into someone and to pull them back from the hell they've fallen into." he explained and then, he smiled faintly.

"I want you to know that, because those Cliath under your command? Those are souls that haven't been ruined yet."

since we are being open and speaking freely I have a question for you Elder.

He nodded and gestured in a beckoning way.

"Anything you'd like. Ask away."

when the monsters come and with it the corruption that follows in its wake whom will you defend the innocent or the corrupted or those that have fallen?

"Unicorn bids us defend the innocent and the defenseless." he answered easily enough. "Why do you ask?"

My pack is not that much different we just go about it in two different ways. We strike first so that innocent need never now there are monsters as I said we do the jobs others don't do. We don't wait for the war to come to us we bring it to them.

Jake nodded and reached into his pockets to produce two objects. The first, he laid on the table between them. It was a single 9mm pistol round. "Say for a moment that I could convince you that this bullet would shoot the monster and the corruption out of a soul but leave the person intact. Would you use it in preference over, say, this one that only kills?" he asked and set a .45 round between them next to its smaller cousin.

Jake smiled and took both rounds to tuck back into his pocket. Obviously, they weren't supernatural in any way.

"I'm glad to hear that. Do you think your pack would work the same way?" he asked as he leaned back in his seat.

but would that bullet stop the bsd from rending a pack mate of mine ?

I understand what your trying to teach me elder . that by killing my packs souls are in jeopardy and that there are other ways other than killing and that we should be looking to save no kill. or am wrong and have missed what your teaching.

"Right except for one small thing... I wasn't teaching you. In a way, you were teaching me about you. I can't be the first person who's come to you talking about how killing isn't the right way and honestly, I'm sure you can tell as well as I can that sometimes? Things need to die. No, I wanted to see how you thought and felt. You really weren't lying when you said that your pack is everything to you." he said with a fond smile.

So how long are you going to be in town and do ya need a place to stay I can put up in a really nice room in the casino across the street if ya like.

"I wasn't planning on lingering overlong, but hey. If there's a room for me? I won't turn down hospitality. Just lemme get some drinks in there, huh?" he replied with a laugh.

Sure i'll call over have a room set up for ya and hows 20,000 in chips sound ?

The Elder blinked and then pressed a hand over his face.

"God, it must be nice to have that kind of money... Well, yeah! I'll take that!"

After handing over the $20,000 in chips over in a crisp brown envelope. "I know it is not my business, to intrude my words into this conversation, but understand not everything can be solved with money or high tech bullets. If that was the case our pack Alpha Firewall would have done it by now. We are here to solve problems that normal garou need taken care of with money and high tech bullets.
