Rites

Rites are the foundation of the Garou Nation, which reminds them of their heritage and calls forth their nature under Gaia.

In order to use a Basic Rite, a Garou must have at least one level of the Ability Rituals, three levels for Intermediate Rites, and five for Advanced Rites.

XP does not need to be used to purchase Rites if they are readily available.  This includes PC teachers, garou mentors, and NPC Elder garou of the Sept.  Learning from a non-local PC (that is, from a different chronicle) or from a Spirit or other source requires 2 XP for Basic Rites, 4 XP for Intermediate Rites, and 6 XP for Advanced Rites.  Minor Rites do not cost XP, but must be role played out.  While you can learn Rites inappropriate for your Rank (Basic at Fostern, Intermediate at Athro, and Advanced at Elder), you must have a very good reason and explanation as to why your character should learn it.

You may learn one rite per month, per source. (IE, you can learn one rite from one other character per month.)
