Mentor

So what is the big purpose of the background Mentor in Werewolf?  I've been told Rites and Lores, but you can't use it to help you to learn gifts.  I've been trying to compare it to the Vampire version.

You can't use Mentor to directly learn Gifts--but keep in mind that for any gift your Mentor has:

A. He had to learn it from a spirit,
B. He knows how to find that spirit,
C. He's probably on reasonably good terms with that Spirit.

While a Mentor is unlikely to teach you a gift directly, he might very well be willing to help you find a teacher.

D. He can probably tell you what chimanage that spirit would find pleasing.

That actually makes a ton of sense and makes Mentor very much worth it.  Thanks!
