Re: June Event Planning
The irrelevant comment was directed at Robert McIntosh mostly. I don't disagree with all that you have said, but my point is that discussion of marijuana legality is simply not relevant to deciding on a site for an event game.
Regardless of which side of the argument you're on.
Things that are illegal at home are still illegal at an event game. The same policy applies.
It was a poor attempt at humor, can we move on?
If that region is too far away, what about closer to home? Niagara Falls, for example? There is a decent, fairly large, hotel in Niagara Falls - and there is the state park, right where our game actually takes place, with plenty of shelters and space.
Then all we'd need to do is host the event as a BBQ down by the falls during the days, in a reserved area - say Goat Island? People might be nearby, but in our actual reserved area we should be alone. At nights we could run Vampire-side events at the hotel.
Thus, it would still have the event-game feel with everyone staying in one place for late-night RP.
This... might be a stretch, but it's an idea. We're brainstorming, right?

Trying to stay out of this to let folks brainstorm, but let me just say that I want to stay away from hotels. That's a whole headache on top of renting a site.

Yeah, I was actually thinking that as I got to the bottom of my post.
So, maybe not there. We could maybe run an actual game session down there sometime though, or something. I think that would be very cool.

I'm just going to suggest that maybe we should keep KISS in mind. Maybe our first camping event should be a little less ambitious. Coordinating a hundred-person event is a pretty significant undertaking. Do we have the dedicated manpower to handle the logistics on something like that?

That's what we're trying to figure out. I'm cool for spitballing for the moon right now, I think we'll get more a handle on what we're capable of when we put this before the group on Saturday.

Zoar Valley is a girlscout camp. Of the two, Stonehaven is better.
Not that I'm jumping on the Stonehaven train.
There are no cabins at chestnut ridge, and there is no camping in Niagara Falls State Park.

i'll help!!
brushwood not good for game naked ppl walking/ swimming no way to avoid them.
there are to campgrounds around here that i remember as a kid, Stonybrook and Sugar Creek. both have hiking trails and waterfalls. me personally i would choose a wet site cause gamers drink it's a fact and if it's a dry site you WILL risk fines or whatever when someone DOES drink

Ok....
The Original Idea for renting one of the Group Camps in Allegany State Park is still a good one.... If we can get a commitment from as few as 40 People Cabin Rental will be a mere $25.
Do we all want to bring our own food or do we want to do a meal plan, and if so how comprehensive a meal plan ??? I have done Midevil Banquets and such before and I ran the Inn at Midland including the meal plan there for awhile. Its not easy but if done right and with sufficent help [Slave Labor] meals for all can be had for reasonable prices. Things like Scalloped Potatoes, Pasta and Meatballs, and Scrambled Eggs and Hash Brown Casarole can all be purchased at the Buffalo Restraunt supply store in Bulk. And nobody has to peal 50# of potatoes... sounds easier then it acutally is and I have done this for a banquet it take 2 people about an hour. Stews,Cassleroles, and such are always easier and Roaster Overns and Crockpots are your friends especially if the crew feeding everyone actually wants to play in the game. Lets just say the Food Plan at Midland Died horribly after I ended up not playing all that much for 2 complete weekends.
So what we need here is a commitment survey for those willing to attend such a game, and a commitment survey to those who are willing to help staff it atleast part time and those willing to do so Full Time.
I will break a cardinal rule here and step forward to help organize a meal plan if we decide to do such an event. And more importantly to help do the Shopping...

Published Prices for Stonehaven
Tenting $2 per person per night
Unless they give a discount for renting the whole camp we would be looking at $644 for the cabins and $54 for the lean-to.
Sounds like Allegany State Park will be cheaper and it is not too far.
Cabin #1 | 24 | S,W,E | $144.00 |
Cabin #2 | 24 | S,W,E | $144.00 |
Leader's Lodge | 28 | S,W,E | $168.00 |
Niagara Cabin | 30 | C,S,W,E | $180.00 |
Stone Lean-To | 6 | Fireplace Outside | $24.00 |
Troop 107 Lean-To | 8 | W | $30.00 |
Code: S=Cooking Stove; W=Wood Heating Stove; E=Electricity; C=Co-Ed Ready |

I will not be attending any cross-venue event for OWBN. Especially not with vampires, as I am familiar with their mechanics.

Frankly, sir, I feel you are making a mistake. Having attended multiple cross-genre events in OWbN, I can tell you that they are generally pretty awesome. The turn out is generally cool, and the interactions are more fun than you'd think. Don't make assumptions about it before you try it.

I know that they have reduced the number of rangers from 1 per camp and GNFC has 3 camps, to 2 and 1 part time. That was of a few years ago. Stonehaven may not have a part time ranger right now and the Niagara Cabin may very well be the old ranger house. That would be the normal looking house on the left side of the driveway, but it been a few years since i have gone camping there myself.

Cross venue events are quite fun. I go to nonclave every year, and even though its a camping event...I hotel. But it is fun. That being said doing a big event for werewolf, even on a smaller level, you need to take into account the events that happen during the summer. Also, please take into account those of us who aren't camping friendly that would love cabins. Not just for personal bug ew issues...but allergies and whatnot.
That being said, I would very willingly help with food cooking.

The Buffett or the Hotel.... both from my experience are average priced ???? Not Cheap by any means but $100 a night for a hotel room is expected at a good hotel. Unless you can get a room on Hotel.com

Not really interested in shelling out money on a hotel, personally. If we're going to camp, that's great; if we're not, I'd just as soon do it in one of the free venues currently available to us.

Yes, we would need all 3 Cabins. If we're going to open this up to other Genres and encourage visitors, 3 Cabins might not be enough, frankly.

Right now the Plan is to plan a camping trip for our event. If we get visitors from other Garou games Excellent but I did not see a plan for a Cross Genre Event. I thought that was what we would be doing at UBCon...????

i say we try to keep it as local as possable as for cross genre i cant see a problem with inviteing the other two local owbn groups joining us. Just remind them that its the werewolf game orginizing it and running it. Hell everyone loves camping and god knows some of us could use the exersise hikeing. As for locations Letchworth might not be a bad place as well.

Re: June Event Planning
Just got off the phone with Allegany starting june 12th thats there prime camping time. What this meens is for cabins you must rent them for a week at a time. Max people per cabin is 6 for a cabin without electric it is 66.25 a day this is the cheapest they have prices go up from ther. Also tent camping is 19.00 a night per site no elctric and must also be rented for a week at a time nuber of people per tent site is 2. So thats 463.75 a week for 6 people. Now if we are looking at 100 people that would be 17 cabins for a total of 7883.75 and 20%of that for deposit due no later than january 30th. Mind you this is the bare minimum no electric no nothing just cabin. Also being that it is there main camping time the place with be packed as far as the cabins and tent sites goes.

Well, good news on a few things there. First, if we're all renting Cabins, we've all gone insane, because that's waaaaaay too much money. Second, what about the first and second weekends in June? that falls before prime season, might be cheaper? Still, if we're going with Allegany, we'd pretty much need to get one of the group sites; and I think the Boy Scouts have dibs.

Realistically, how many people are we actually looking at? Our own larp and that's it, with the option of a handful (5 or less) people from other games coming to visit, or are we looking at a WNY by Night thing again? Because people are all over the place on this and we're not of one mind on this.
If it's just our larp (Which is what, 30 people?) I found a nice cheap place close to civilization AND there's 1 cabin, and 1 cabin only for those that due to health reasons, have to sleep in a cabin, the rest of ya can deal with tents, cuz that's what real camping is. Or if you're one of those fancy types, bring your pop up trailer or RV.
Evangola State Park
NYS site for campground
Now it is a State Park, so it technically falls under the usual rules of drinking, smoking and what have you.
No Smoking, No Drinking
In reality, don't be an asshole. If you can't handle your booze, I suggest going dry.
This campground is right by where I grew up, so I know the area, and it's a great location if this is just the werewolf larp and a handful of people.

...oK....
Ok... lets do a little bit of spit balling....
1. the third weekend in June is Origins.... we dont want to conflict with that ????
2. We dont want to grab any of the other 1, 2, 4 th weekends because alot of the players are in more than 1 larp
3. June has 5 Weekends.... *Blink Blink*
Yes June has 5 Saturdays and Sundays..... So the Question is do we want to try and reserve a camp ground for the Weekend of June 29th and 30th.... the problem here is if we do that we really cant do Allegany because they want us to rent the Whole Week.
So what do people think of this plan
1. the third weekend in June is Origins.... we dont want to conflict with that ????

Re: June Event Planning
*pops head in*, Don't worry too much about running 1st or 2nd weekend. If that's where the best stuff lies, we'd be fools not to take it.
